RAYMOND ARCAND July 1, 1937 July 16, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond R. Arcand at Riverview Health Centre on the afternoon of July 16, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Tatiana and daughter Nathalie; sisters, Carmelle (Roy) and Marjolaine; brothers, Claude, Gabriel, Gérald (Erika); as well as cousins; nieces; nephews and many faithful friends. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street, on Friday, July 22, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Walter Klimchuk and Deacon Gordon Mendres officiating. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre for their exemplary care, compassion and kindness to Raymond and his family. A sincere appreciation is also extended to his special friends for their constant presence and devotion in Raymond's time of need. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Raymond's memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9, or to the Riverview Palliative Care Unit, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg MB, R3L 2P4. Tatiana and Natalie, I offer my wife and my sincere condolences. I was at the service and I was so impressed by it all. Tatiana, both you and Natalie you showed such strength...,I got to meet both of you at the end of the line. Raymond taught me French Literature in grade 11 at Juniorat, he instilled his love of cars onto me...late in grade 11 our class, we had a class excursion at Falcon Lake. I kept bugging him that the little Ford Falcon we were using was nothing but a old person car, no power to squeal the tires. He did not respond but when we left the resort and got onto the highway....guess what...he got that little Ford Falcon to squeal the tires...left a forever impression on me! Chère Tatiana, Mes sincères condoléances à vous et à votre famille. Je sais que Raymond a souffert longtemps du cancer. François Whinsky me tenait au courant. J'ai passé deux périodes de ma vie au service de traduction de Winnipeg pour remplacer la terminologue et j'en garde un bon souvenir. C'était entre les années 1985 et 1986.
