NICHOLAS MICHEAL IVANISKI It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Nicholas Micheal Ivaniski, aged 79, on July 24, 2016. Nick will be greatly missed by Ruth, his loving wife of 53 years; sons, Wayne and Brian; grandchildren, Vanessa (Dan) and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Calla, Adley and Anniston; sisters, Dorothy, Janet, Marvel, Olga (Bert), and Violet (Ron); brothers, Les and Walter; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, infant sister, his brother Steve, sisters-in-law Loretta and Betty, and brothers-in-law Alex, Wally and Dan. Nick was born on January 11, 1937 in Gypsumville, Manitoba. His early years were spent farming and fishing alongside his brothers. He met and married the love of his life Ruth in 1963 and moved to Winnipeg to start their life together, where they welcomed and raised their two sons. Nick worked as a surveyor for Manitoba Hydro for 37 years. In 1998, Nick made the decision to retire from Manitoba Hydro but continued to keep himself busy with work on the hobby farm. He was also able to use skills that he developed in his youth growing up in the country and became a handyman, tinkering with small projects and repairs around the family home. He took great pride in developing his garden and providing his family and friends with fresh fruits and vegetables to enjoy. Nick's grandchildren were the light of his life. He looked forward to any time spent with Vanessa and enjoyed treasure hunting and teaching Nicholas how to repair and build things. He also cherished all moments he was able to share with his great-granddaughters, relishing in their joy. Nick had a heart of gold and would go out of his way to care for the ones in his life that meant so much to him. He will be missed beyond belief. The family would like to thank Nick's brother Les for all of the years he helped on the farm and extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bob and Danny Obsniuk for their care and assistance when they were most needed.
