Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My family knew Don and his parents and brother Art in the 50s, 60s and 70s. My grandparents were Donald and Roxie Robertson. I believe Don bought my grandparents property and he built a house on that property. Don was a dear friend to our family. I remember him always smiling. I remember visiting the dairy farm and the Pauls place to get eggs. It was fun for us to watch the planes come and go. I am grateful for the memories, may Don rest in peace. • I think Don was the most pleasant man I have ever known. Whenever he came into the office at the base, he was always smiling and usually had something to say that brought a smile to everyone's face. He had a joyful disposition that I always enjoyed. Art and Don were quite the team, always busy working on something. There were no limits to the things they could do. I was always impressed with the way the two of them made complex seemingly impossible challenges such as salvaging a sunken aircraft seem simple and effortless. Don set a fine example and was a valued teacher to the younger generation who were lucky enough to watch him in action. He was a good man who will be fondly remembered by many. My thoughts are with Gaffray family at this sad time. - Posted by: Heather Oakes (Friend) on: Aug 11, 2016
