Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMONICA MIDDLETON (nee BESTLAND) September 21, 1965 August 16, 2016 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Monica Middleton after a short and hard fought battle with cancer at the Selkirk & District Hospital. She leaves behind her best friend and husband Richard Middleton and her precious sons Dillon, Shayne, William and Tristan. Monica also leaves behind her sister Sherry (Paul) and brother Bradley (Shirley); brothers-in-law Andrew (Grace) and Evan (Leanne). She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Monica was predeceased by her parents Carmelle and Arthur Bestland as well as her in-laws Mary and William Middleton. Monica grew up in St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba, where she graduated from High School and went on to get a Bachelor of Physical Education degree from the University of Manitoba. She had a lengthy career with Revenue Canada where she held progressively responsible positions until her retirement in 2015. Monica was devoted to her family and while working full time always ensured her family came first. From getting the boys to their hockey games to making their gourmet meals and helping them with their homework and life's challenges, she always made time for them. Monica took great pride in her yard work both at home and at the cottage. She enjoyed travelling, spending time at the cottage and, most importantly, family time. She was looking forward to spending more time at their home in Arizona and travelling more with her husband as her family was growing up and leaving the nest. She will be truly missed by all those whose hearts she touched. She was a compassionate, kind, selfless, giving person who did all things right. We are so blessed to have had her in our lives. The void she is leaving in our hearts will never be filled. "Those we love don't go away they walk beside us every day." Monica, you are always around us, engulfing us with your love, giving us strength, keeping us close and watching over us from above. On behalf of the family, we extend our sincere gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff at the Selkirk & District Hospital and cousin Paula Fedoruk for being by our side through this most difficult time. We are having a Celebration of Monica's Life at the Brokenhead Community Hall in Beausejour, Manitoba, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Memory of Monica to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Brokenhead River Community Foundation. I can only feel my own heart ache for the loss of this incredible lady and cannot imagine the extent of the burden of pain carried by her family. My heart and prayers are with all of you. God must be preparing for a battle like no other to take this Angel by his side. She is in a place now where she can now be in 5 places at once to embrace and watch over her flock. She was one of the most amazing people I have ever met. The respect and ethics that she continuously upheld in her workplace were inspiring to all and the pride that exuded when she talked about Richard, Dillon, Shayne, William and Tristan; always sparked that twinkle in her eyes and brightened our days. May you somehow feel the comfort of her embrace and the love that always surrounds you. - Posted by: Marlene Schock (work collegue) on: Aug 23, 2016

My deepest sympathies and condolences go out to all of Monica's family and friends. We are incredibly blessed to have Known her. During my teen years I spent summer vacations with family in Manitoba, including Monica. I don't think she was thrilled to have her younger cousin following her around but she entertained me without complaint (well not that I know of Lol). She was a Saint and always did the right thing from an early age! I may not have known it at the time but I have truly learned from Monica's values and good humour! Love you Monica...miss you...and will always remember you!! Your cousin, Michelle xoxo - Posted by: Michelle Orsetti (Cousin) on: Aug 20, 2016
