STELLA ROZAK (TATARYN) (nee SYSAK) February 24, 1916 August 13, 2016 It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, Baba and Great Baba at the age of 100 years old. Survived by her daughters Diane Claydon (Bill), Irene Bechert (Eric), Barbara Cooke (Gordon), sister-in-law Shirley Sysak, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her first husband Tony Tataryn (1957), second husband Peter Rozak (2013), son Elmer Tataryn (2008), three children in infancy, granddaughter Tracy Huynen (2013), parents John and Anne Sysak, and siblings Peter, Nick, Mike, Bill, Mary, Jennie and Sophie. Mom lived for her family and was selfless, loving, kind, generous and strong willed. She taught us many life lessons we will carry with us forever. She always had a smile on her face and loved gardening, crocheting, crafts, singing Ukrainian songs, playing penny bingo and spending time with family and friends. But her greatest talent was in the kitchen. Mom was an amazing cook and made the world's best perogies, holopchi, kasha, chicken soup with homemade noodles, borscht, doughnuts, cinnamon buns, pickles and preserves. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her family, friends and all those who knew her. A big thank you to all the homecare workers who cared for Mom while living at the Sunrise Lodge and the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home. A thank you to the doctors at the Arborg and District Health Centre who kept her healthy and happy for more than 100 years. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Arborg. Interment will follow at the Sky Lake Cemetery. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dear Diane, Irene and Barb, I hope this reaches you despite being so late. So sorry to hear about your Mom. Barb and I were in the Toronto area over the weekend and did not hear about it until today. Reading the obituary in the Free Press certainly reminded me of visits to her house over the years with Uncle Pete or Nick. I'll remember her cheerful spirit, her amazing cooking ability and her kindness. I hope you all are doing well despite the sadness that comes with the death of a loved one. Yours truly, Warren and Barb Philp and family and Sharon Belcher - Posted by: Warren Philp (Nephew) on: Aug 22, 2016
