STAN ALLCROFT It is with a sense of great loss we announce that Stan Allcroft, a long-time resident of Stony Mountain and cottager at Laurentia Beach (St. Laurent), passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg on August 7, 2016. He was 84 years old. Earlier this year, he was hospitalized at the Stonewall General Hospital and more recently at the Selkirk Mental Health Treatment Centre resulting from a tragic fire which occurred in his home on January 1, 2016. At that time, he lost his sister Irene Finch to whom he was very attached throughout his adult life. He was pre-deceased by his father, mother, sisters, Ellen, Irene and brother-in-law Alf Finch many years ago. Stan was an antique collector and furniture refinisher par excellence. In particular, he will be remembered with much fondness by all the kids who grew up at the lake years ago, as he was a "kid-at-heart". He was exceptionally kind and saw the good in everyone. If there was something he didn't like, he would always say it in a most diplomatic way. He was a true gentleman. While hospitalized at both medical facilities, (Stonewall Hospital and the Selkirk Mental Health Treatment Centre), he received exceptional care for which his friends are most grateful. The attention given to him was always dignified to complement Stan's lifelong character. If anyone so wishes, donations to the Patient Entertainment Fund at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre would be appreciated. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Selkirk Mental Health Treatment Centre, 825 Manitoba Ave, Selkirk, MB (Tyndall Bldg. - 2nd Entrance off Manitoba Ave.) Memorial Service will be officiated by Chaplain Mary Holmen with burial to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Christ Church Cemetery, Stony Mountain, MB.
