PAUL BENNETT September 18, 1956 - August 18, 2016 Suddenly on Thursday, August 18, 2016, our beloved husband and father left this earth. Paul leaves behind to mourn, his loving wife Lynn; children, Laura (Paul), Christopher and Chad; his brothers, Stephen and David, brother-in-law Glen (Marilyn) Spryszak and sister-in-law Judy (Kevin) Tyndall, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that adored him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Ann Bennett and his in-laws Joe and Mae Spryszak. Paul was born in England, and came to Canada as an infant when his parents immigrated in 1957. Growing up in Charleswood, he made many friends, where he graduated from Westdale High School. Paul excelled in sports from a very early age, particularly soccer and baseball, and in his teenage years football and hockey. Paul met Lynn at the University of Manitoba in 1975, through a mutual friend, where he charmed her instantly. For the next 5 years they were inseparable, marrying on September 27, 1980. Their early married years consisted of working, travelling, furthering both their educations, with Paul completing his CGA. Seven years later, they decided to add to their family and the three loves of his life were born over the next four years. Paul passed his love of sports onto his children as they excelled in football and soccer, just as he had. He didn't miss a game, coached their soccer teams, and beamed from the sideline at every football game. Paul's charming personality endeared him to all of his children's friends, becoming everyone's Dad over the years. His company was enjoyed by many and his openness, honesty and laughter will never be forgotten. His family was close because of the love he radiated, the guidance he instilled and morals he wanted them to live by: family first always. The proudest day of his life was the day he got to walk his daughter down the aisle and gained another son. Although he loved everyone, Lynn was his best friend and at times his rock. Everything was done side by side, whether it was home renovations or gardening, which became his most recent passion. The life they spent together was just shy of 41 years, with a treasure chest of memories made to be cherished. They were the couple that never gave up on one another, showing us all that real lasting marriage does exist. At the time of his death, Paul was employed by Canada Post, where he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed at the Distribution Centre. In recent times they were very supportive of Paul, and always understood, which meant a lot to the family. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, from where all of the family pets found a home. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A private interment to follow. 204-586-8044

I was deeply saddened when I decided to google to search for the Bennett family, to reconnect. Ann and Frank came over to Canada with my dad Ed. They had a long lasting friendship. I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of Paul. The last time I spoke to Ann, was in 2009 when my father passed away I wasn’t able to talk to her as once service was over, she left. David and Stephen I have fond memories of the great times we had when we visited your home in Charleswood. I am very sad for Pauls family. Over the years, I've often wondered where people are and what they have been up to. It's obvious that Paul and Lynn were up to...just about anything! I remember the days of bush parties and high school sports, of nearly getting caught and getting into trouble (but nothing very serious!) The high school days are long gone, but I'll always remember Paul as being one of the most fun guys to hang out with. His parents house was somewhere we always felt welcome and I believe that Lynn and Paul fostered the same environment for their kids. What a wonderful gift and great memories you have made for them to carry on. It's hard to think of Paul not being around though - and even though we had not been in touch for a few decades, it seems like yesterday when we all were together, discussing the antics of some of the teachers, other classmates and not getting caught sneaking into the Charleswood pub. Dear Lynn, You have my deepest sympathy on the death of Paul. I have only met Paul once way back in 1992 when you had a travel agency. I needed a super fast plane ticket to go back home to be with my dying father. Paul and you helped me in a time of confusion and panic. I have never forgotten this. Our family is so profoundly grateful for the many years we were privileged to share with Paul as a brother-in-law and uncle. Yet he meant so much to so many more, including the family pets. Paul had such a good heart and soul and touched the lives of many, especially Alexa. She loved him and misses him dearly. Although we lost his presence on earth , he will eternally remain in our hearts and will live on through our endless years of memories. He is family forever, will never be forgotten, but remembered just for being him and everything he added to this family.
