DOREEN MISTELBACHER March 13, 1936 - September 5, 2016 Peacefully on the morning of September 5, 2016, Doreen passed away after a long courageous battle with both cancer and Alzheimer's. Doreen was a private independent person who dealt with her illness similar to the way she lived her life. She was determined to stay in her family farm home for as long as possible, and managed to live on her own up until the last few months of her life. She maintained her routine of keeping her home immaculate, her cats well-fed, and her yard and garden well cared for. Her internal toughness and strength of character shone through right up until the final days of her life. In recent years, she looked forward to her regular phone calls with her siblings. They provided much needed friendship and comfort. Her love of shopping was well known and her weekly highlight was her shopping day spent with her sister Lorraine. Doreen is survived by her sons, Lance (Janet), Blair (Rachelle) and Todd (Silvie); her grandchildren, Alyssa, Dane, Ashlee, Nick, Jesse, Brenna, Brady, Luke, Cole and Ty; as well as her siblings, Lorraine, Jeanette (Ray), Marina and Andy. She was predeceased by her husband Addie, and brother Luke. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Ste. Anne Hospital for the gracious care they provided our mom and grandma at her time of greatest need. In particular the family would like to thank Brigitte Remillard for all her help and guidance. Cremation has taken place, and the family will be holding a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy #1 E at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I will always remember Doreen with great fondness, with a smile on my face and joy in my heart. From when I was a young girl and her and Mom were best friends. The weekly "baths" at European Health Spa after a fun round of shopping and then on to lunch and the spa. Her marvelous baking and her ability to always have her home warm and welcoming, with her laughter and sense of humour always at the ready. She listened with interest and loved with all of her heart. She will be missed. Our condolences and heartfelt sympathy to her family and loved ones. Love, Diane Gumprich and Kevin Clouston - Posted by: Diane Gumprich (Family Friend) on: Sep 14, 2016
