Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY-ANN ROSA JAKIMECZKO October 14, 1964 - September 26, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend on September 26, 2016 at the age of 51. Left to cherish Mary-Ann's memory are her mother Helen Jakimeczko; her sister Angela (Rob) Adamson; her niece and nephews, Sarah, Brendan and Jesse Adamson; her Godfather Uncle Joe Krowiak as well as many family and friends. Mary-Ann loved to learn and excel in all aspects of education. Mary-Ann obtained a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology from the University of Winnipeg and then proceeded to obtain a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba. Despite her hardships of living with spinal muscular atrophy Mary-Ann always found a way to put others first and remain always positive despite so many life challenges. Mary-Ann's faith and firm belief in God provided her strength. Mary-Ann was loving, genuine, kind and thoughtful, she will remain in our hearts forever. The family is profoundly grateful and would like to thank Dr. Gregg Eschun for his many years of exceptional care. Prayers will be held on Friday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated by Reverend Father Frank Szadiak, CSsR on Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Mary-Ann's memory to the Blessed Bishop Vasyl Velychkovsky Shrine, 250 Jefferson Ave, R2V 0M6. I was so shocked today to learn of Mary-Ann's passing. She was such a lovely human being, like a little Angel so often sitting in the lobby of the condominium where we both lived. She always smiled and talked with so many people throughout the day.She could talk about anything it seemed and always had something special to add to the conversation. Helen, please ask the fine people from Korban's to share my phone number with you. I would love to see you when you have time. I got to know Mary-Ann at Grant Park High School in Grade 7 through 12. She was a kind and helpful person and always had time for chitchat between classes and during. We kept in touch recently through facebook. I will miss her kindness, warm smile and willing to help others. RIP my friend. - Posted by: Colleen Orchard (nee McRae) (Friend) on: Sep 30, 2016

I met Mary Ann through MDAC. She was a terrific role model always so thoughtful and positive. I learnt a lot from her about life in general and about living with a disability. My thoughts and prayers are with you- her family. - Posted by: Gerry (Friend) on: Sep 29, 2016

We lived across the street from Mary-Ann and Angela for many years and spent a lot of our childhood playing together. My deepest sympathies on your loss. - Posted by: Brigitte Fisher (nee Suszko) (Former Neighbor - Lansdowne Street) on: Sep 29, 2016
