Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER POZERNIUK March 31, 1924 October 5, 2016 It is with heavy hearts and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Peter Pozerniuk. He passed away on October 5, 2016 at the Deer Lodge Centre, after a brief illness, at the age of 92 years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Anne (nee Haliday); his parents, John and Anastasia (Netty); his brother Michael; and his sister-in-law Stella. Peter leaves behind to mourn his passing, his two children, Teresa and Patrick, who will always cherish his memory in their hearts. Dad was born and raised in Transcona. He was baptized at St. Michael's U. C. Church and graduated from Transcona Central High School. Dad was a proud Second World War veteran, having served our country in the Air Force. It was love at first sight when Dad first saw Mom at a church dance. The next day they went to a party and he knew that she would eventually be his wife. They were married in 1950 at the old St. Nicholas U. C. Church, where they remained parishioners for the rest of their lives. Dad worked at the CPR shops for 42 years, starting as an apprentice and working his way up to become a Carman. After retiring, Dad enjoyed many years of travelling with the family. Dad was a strong, hard-working man who took pride in his house, yard and garden. When Mom's health began to fail, he took care of her as long as he could. When she had to move to the Maples Personal Care Home, Dad and the rest of the family would visit as often as we could. Special thanks to those who cared for Dad at Deer Lodge, especially Amanda and Leah. A private service has been held. Dad, please rest easy now, your job is done. You and Mom will be together forever as one. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT MEMORY ETERNAL 204-586-8044
