WILLIAM PATRICK BOYD On October 15, 2016, William (Bill) Patrick Boyd of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 with his wife by his side. Mourning his passing are his wife of 64 years, Annie; children Patrick (Brenda), James John (J.J.), Joanne (Charlie), Bonny (Clifford), Mike (Rose Marie), and Sheila; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jack (Linda). Bill was predeceased by his parents; brother Andrew Boyd; and sisters Clara Boyd, Rose Marie Thornton and Mary Boyd. Dad was born to John and Euphrosine (Chaboyer) Boyd in Winnipeg where he lived most of his life. He was the eldest of six children. Upon graduating from high school, Dad joined the Canadian Armed Forces and became a member of 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry (2PPCLI). Before shipping overseas to Korea, he met and married Annie Bowen. While there, he fought in the battle of Kapyong for which he received the United States Presidential Unit Citation before returning home. Dad worked for 26 years for Christies Biscuits before moving on to Amesco Westburne until his retirement in 1994. In the 1970s and early 1980s, we had a trailer at Lee River Falls where we spent most of our summers. Mom and Dad enjoyed the water, meeting with friends and Dad, his Extra Old Stock beer. Our family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Parkview Place for their care in Dad's time of need. In lieu of flowers, you may make a memorial donation to a charity of your choice. Memorial Service 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. "Every man dies. Not every man really lives." • I will always remember uncle Bill at Lee River Falls. I was just a kid and there would always be lots of kids to play with. We used to bug uncle bill to tell us stories around the humongous bonfires he would make. He would tell stories of the "ware bear" and when we became annoying he would dig in his blue jean pocket and take a hand full of change and throw it in the bush. We would run to try and find it so we could go the next day to camp hide away to buy candy. Please accept my deepest condolences to the whole family, may the fond memories keep your heart whole.
