RAYMOND DEVUONO June 18, 1934 - October 23, 2016 Raymond Carlo DeVuono quietly passed away on Sunday, October 23 at 82 years of age. He was predeceased by sister Mary and parents Frank and Connie, and survived by his wife Betty (Bremner) with whom he enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Ray was born and raised in Winnipeg and was an avid sportsman participating in baseball, curling, golf, and swimming. He started playing hockey with his community in 1944 including the West End Memorials, St. Boniface Canadians, and Winnipeg Monarchs. In 1954 he declined an invitation to the Montreal Canadiens training camp and committed to a career at CP Rail where he worked until retiring as Weston Shops Work Manager in 1989. He spent another 10 years working as General Manager at Mandak Railway Supply and easing into full retirement. Ray and Betty enjoyed splitting their retirement years between Winnipeg in the summer and the Arizona sunshine in the winter. At Ray's request no formal service will be held. Cremation will be followed by a private interment. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 204-586-8044

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I first met Ray when I hired on in Montreal. While we had no working relationship he helped indoctrinate me into the head office comings and goings. Shortly after he relocated back to Winnipeg and a year later my wife and I came to Weston Shops. Ray was my trainer and mentor and provided me so many opportunities and positions at Weston. Even after his retirement from CP while at Mandak we remained close friends. After retiring from Mandak we became closer friends meeting regularly. We had breakfast only several weeks ago. I will miss Ray, our regular meetings reliving past incidents and co-worker stories. My sincerest condolences to Betty his loving wife of 57 years. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Doug Simpson (Friend) on: Oct 29, 2016
