Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDANIEL WALTER DERKSEN It is with great sadness that we announce that Daniel Walter Derksen, born January 31, 1957, passed away at the age of 59 on November 3, 2016 at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, after a long battle with cancer. A lover of life and being outdoors with friends and family, Dan enjoyed fishing and having fire pits in his backyard, as well as bowling, playing baseball and building or tinkering on cars, woodwork and other various home projects. He called himself a "jack of all trades, but master of none". He also loved music and enjoyed his time as "Danny Feedback", the sound man for a band called Deep. In work, Dan had over 25 years at BFI Waste Systems in various positions, and another 15 plus years at Stericycle. Dan was predeceased by his son Shaun Derksen, brother Don Derksen, uncle Don Rivais, and grandmother Audrey Wolfman. Father, Papa and friend, Dan is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan Derksen; daughter Angela (Andrew) Jeffers; mother Karyn (Gerry) Encontre; father Walter (Margaret) Derksen; brother Jeff (Lois) Derksen; grandsons James, Brendan, Ares and Isaac; longtime close friends Cory, Duane, Ian, Karen and Joe; as well as his furry friend Tiger, and many more family and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff in section 3E at Riverview Heath Centre, as well as the many home care nurses with Palliative Care, with special thanks to Carol and Angela, whom Dan called "his angels". In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. "Dan, you will be forever missed and always in our hearts" www.voyagefuneralhome.com

I will miss you Danny. You are my hero. You were my guardian angel when I was younger looking out for me and making sure I was safe and ok. You were silent in your watch over me. I never knew a lot of things you had done for me until later in life and I love you for that. Lauren still talks about your camp outs in the motor home when you use to travel here with your job. Jarrett talks about how you two use to jam together in the basement when he was learning guitar. I will love you always. - Posted by: Jeff Derksen (Brother) on: Nov 08, 2016
