MAYA KARIN PERSON It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Maya Karin Person, beloved daughter of Susan and Brian Person on Monday, November 7, 2016. Maya was born Wednesday, April 12, 1995 in Winnipeg. She was a miracle baby; and a true gift to the world! Maya was blessed to have all four great-grandmothers awaiting her arrival. Maya attended Ecole Riverbend, ESOMS, Garden City Collegiate and was currently in her fourth year of film studies at the University of Winnipeg. She was employed by Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries. She is survived by her parents Susan and Brian Person, her grandparents Edie and Gunnar Person, many aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada, Denmark and Poland, her niece/goddaughter Alexandra Maya, another niece on the way, and her many dear friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Else and Henry Kozubski. Maya was a supernova who shone so bright. She was a life force and always the life of the party. Maya had countless friends who were all very important in her life and she was always planning the next party, bonfire or event to spend time with them. The times spent at the family cottage at Falcon Lake were especially important to Maya. Maya was a passionate sports fan (go Bruins go!), a certified a scuba diver and a world traveler. She saw more places in her 21 short years than most people would see in a life time. Maya will be truly missed by her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. It would make Maya very happy if you showed up in your favourite sports team Jersey. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date. Condolences & Memories (21 entries)

  • Brian & Susan, at this time there are no words that can take away the pain & sorrow you feel. Lean on each other & cry as you mourn Maya. But also think of the silly things she did, her smile, her excitement for travel. Have a laugh & smile as you remember the good she brought to you & those around her. That will help you, & sounds like your sweet girl would want you to smile. HUGS my friends. - Posted by: Linda (Ireland) Mojelsky (Friend) on: Nov 13, 2016

  • Maya was the light of every room she was in, she was caring, strong minded, and overall one of the greatest people to be around. I knew her since high school but it was really great to be able to share various number of university classes with her. She made every group project or gruelling assignment a little more entertaining with her witty comments. I was lucky enough to get to call her my friend and my heart mourns. My love and support to her family, I'll never forget my memories and time shared with her. I'll miss her deeply. Nothing will be the same. Rest In Peace dear Friend. I love you, Maya. - Posted by: Candace H (Friend.) on: Nov 09, 2016
