ELSIE YAROSLAWA KUPIAK June 10, 1926 - November 7, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elsie Yaroslawa Kupiak on November 7, 2016 at the age of 90. Elsie, daughter of the late Petro and Paulina Perepeluk, was predeceased by husband Peter; son Peter; and siblings, Paul, Frank, Bill, Irene, and Teenie. Left to mourn are her precious daughter Pauline; beloved son Michael (Elaine); cherished grandson Adam; loving sister Eunice and several nieces and nephews. Elsie was born one of seven children in Sandy Lake Manitoba. Even with the hardship of this time she loved where she grew up and especially valued her education. She left Sandy Lake for Winnipeg when she was a teenager to continue her education and seek career opportunities. A faithful Ukrainian Catholic, she attended Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral where she met her husband Peter Kupiak. Together they raised three children, enjoyed trips to the cottage and several summer vacations to the West Coast. She was a loyal employee as an admissions clerk at Misericordia Hospital for 20 years. The Ukrainian Women's Catholic League and Holy Family Nursing Home were blessed to have her as an active volunteer for many years, where she was able to demonstrate her compassion for others. The activities she enjoyed the most were spending time with her family and looking forward to seeing her grandson perform at his dance and piano recitals. Family would like to thank the caring staff at The Rosewood (Alder House) and the Emergency care staff at the Victoria General Hospital. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Michael Buyachok on Saturday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor St., with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
