WINONA (NONIE) THOMSON (nee EMES) 1916 - 2016 It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Winona on Friday, November 18, 2016. Nonie grew up in Sprague and left as a young adult to pursue her dreams in Winnipeg. An unexpected bonus was meeting and marrying her handsome young soldier Dave, who returned to Sprague with her where he quickly adopted her family and community as his own, they remained in Sprague to live and raise their family. Nonie spent her adult life in Sprague where she spent many happy hours helping shape the community through volunteer work with local and regional organizations. She enjoyed travelling, meeting new people and sharing stories and local history with friends and relatives. Dave left us in 1996, but Nonie continued to participate in, and contribute to community events. Nonie leaves to celebrate her life her brother Lorne (Anne); sister-in-law Reg (Joe); sister-in-law Ella Thomson (Jack); daughter Ina and husband Glen; granddaughter Amanda; grandson Sean; special niece Wanda (Duane); special nephew Yens, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as all the special people whose lives she touched. Nonie particularly enjoyed the glow of the Christmas lights as they lit up in the evening, so in lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Christmas Light Fund, c/o Access Credit Union, Sprague, Manitoba. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at Sprague Cemetery followed by a gathering for coffee and reminiscing at her favorite meeting place, the Evergreen Seniors Centre in Sprague.
