GORDON PETER DYCK April 13, 1961 November 29, 2016 It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Peter Dyck (Pince), age 55, of Steinbach, MB. Gordon leaves to cherish his wife, Angela, children Ryan and Vanessa (boyfriend Valerio); brother Rudy (Tanis), sister Ingrid (Reg) Penner; niece Kara (Tim Fehr); father, Peter, and second mom, Margarete, and her children Ron (Andrea) and Nancy (Kevin); brother-in-law Jon (Jenn) Rempel, as well as nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Gordon was predeceased by his mother, Lilly (1978); his mother-in-law, Shirley (2004) and his father-in-law, Peter (2015). Gord loved his family unconditionally. Most, if not all of the things he worked for were to provide them with a safe, loving and happy home life. He often spoke, with beaming pride, when discussing Vanessa's developing photography business, her academic ability and her mentoring of younger children in church youth ministry. Gord and Ryan spent many hours together at the lake and at the shop. Gord's blue eyes sparkled when he spoke of Ryan's practical common sense approach to things and he enjoyed seeing Ryan take an interest in all things mechanical. Gord had an abundance of energy, an ever-present, optimistic attitude and an overall zest for life. That zest for life was evident in his love of the outdoors and his appreciation and respect for nature. His outdoor passions included the cottage at Lake of the Woods, where Gord enjoyed shifting gears from hectic everyday life by hosting friends and family. There was always a relaxing, but competitive, game of crib to be had as well as a refreshment or two. Gord loved boating, fishing, sailing, snowmobiling and, in the last few years, a new adventure of hunting with Ryan. A problem solver who never backed down from a challenge, Gord built a diversified business by working hard and smart. Gord was always one step ahead of the curve by being unafraid to take calculated risks. He was a generous, fair-minded employer who took chances on people and helped them succeed. He cared about his employees and in return they paid him back with loyalty and hard work. Gord's simple, quiet faith was the bedrock of his life. His overall philosophy of life was patience, mentorship, perseverance, generosity, and a quiet humility that precluded him from rarely, if ever, complaining. This was evident throughout the struggles he endured during his illness. Gord left an indelible mark on those around him. He was loved and he will be greatly missed. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Steinbach Mennonite Church, 345 Loewen Boulevard. Viewing prior to the service. Interment in the Heritage Cemetery. If friends desire, donations may be made to Southeast Helping Hands, or Abundant Harvest, in care of Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • It is 7 years later since Gord died and still miss him so much. A true friend and Someone to look up to in how to live one’s life and take care of others. I was blessed to know Gord. Tim Snider - Posted by: Tim Snider (Friend) on: Nov 27, 2023

  • Gord was 17 or 18 when he started working for us. We remember this, because he was due to start university in the fall, but he was very clear and decided that he wanted to be a builder instead. It was a pleasure to have him with us, for many reasons. He wanted to learn so you never had to tell him twice; he took pride in his work; he was so smart; and he enjoyed a challenge. He wanted to solve the problem and prove his worth. We wanted him to stay with us but he was intent on being out on his own and self employed, and so he went off to do that. We were very sorry to see him go but we were always happy to hear of his progress. I was glad to meet him again at Falcon about 18 months ago, when he was with one of his kids he was obviously so proud of. Gord was one of the most talented people we ever came across in our business, never mind one of the nicest. We are so sorry that you lost him so soon. - Posted by: Alec and Theresa Young (Friends) on: Dec 05, 2016

  • Gord was a favorite of many including myself, I can still hear him laughing. Always joking, he loved having fun. Hardworking, smart and so diligent. Great waterskier, we spent a lot of time together, our high school gang, learning to grow up. I am so sorry of your loss, he will be missed by many. I am at our Florida home for the winter, and won't be able to celebrate Pinces' life. My heart goes out to his wife, and children and all who will miss him. • I was one of the kids who would take the school bus from Falcon Lake, Man to Steinbach for high school every day. Gord was a great friend; always kind, happy, generous, motivated and truly interested in his friends and how they were doing. He spent many weekends over several years camping at Falcon or West Hawk lakes, hanging out with me, my sister Charlene and our friend Sandra. My parents always enjoyed when he was at our house. He has enjoyed nature and the outdoors for a long time, I am so glad he was able to have a cottage with his family in the area. I have lived in Seattle for 12 years and have not seen him during that time. I am sad to be so far away and not able to come to his funeral. My thoughts go to his family; with his personality, caring, kindness and passion his loss will leave a big hole. His presence in my life has left a mark, and I will remember him always.
