SADIE FERN TROWSDALE (nee NORRIS) Peacefully on the morning of November 28, 2016 Mom passed away at the age of 94 years at the Red River Place Personal Care Home in Selkirk with her daughters by her side. She was predeceased by her loving husband Chesley Trowsdale; her parents, Norman and Mary Ann; four brothers, Ormand, Arthur, Gordon and Fred; two sisters, Mabel and Vera; and numerous in-laws. Left to cherish her memory is her three children, Myrna (Rae), Robert (Helen), and Fern (James); grandchildren, Ryan, Mark, Erika (Dan), Sarah (Andy), Cory (Jared), Adam (Olivia); and great-grandchildren; Reese, Riley, Keira, and Amelia. She is also survived her sister Arlie Trowsdale. Mom was born on the family farm in McMunn, MB on June 26, 1922. She married Dad, the love of her life, on June 1, 1946 and they lived in Hadashville, MB where they made their home until Dad passed away in 1995. Together they owned and operated the Imperial Oil Bulk Station and the Portage la Prairie Mutual Insurance Agency. Mom was active in the community where she was a member of the Women's Institute and the East Braintree Community Baptist Church. She enjoyed curling at the Falcon Lake and Hadashville curling rinks. After moving to Winnipeg she took up and enjoyed bowling with the seniors. She enjoyed her role as homemaker and lavished attention on her children and grandchildren. She was a very loving mother and grandmother, always wanting the best for us all. Her grandkids have fond memories of Nanny taking them biking, swimming and playing baseball with them. They fondly remember sneaking down to her freezer to indulge in her Christmas cookies. She was naturally gifted with musical talent and was able to play many instruments, however it was the piano which brought her the most joy. She spent endless hours playing and singing her favourite songs and hymns. When she became a resident of the Red River Personal Care Home, both the staff and residents marveled at her singing and yodeling abilities that continued right to her final days. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff for the kindness and care she received at the home where she lived for the past nine years. For those who wish, donations may be made in Sadie's memory to the Alzheimer Society Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg R3C 4G2. As per her wishes, a private family service was held to celebrate Sadie's life.
