In her youth, Carol worked on a fishing boat on the West Coast, but her primary occupation was caring for the people of Winnipeg working as a Health Care Aid. She loved collecting key chains and magnets from her travels and welcomed additions to her collection from her family and friends. She enjoyed a neat and tidy house and had a green thumb for her plants. Carol had a great time going out with Jim to gamble (cards), dance, listen to country western music and play shuffleboard. These were mostly indoor activities as she absolutely hated the cold. Her gambling paid off in 2007 when she won a Cobalt car by playing Winnipeg Sun poker.
