LEANNE JOY ANDERSON In the presence of loved ones, our Leanne peacefully slipped away, into the arms of Jesus, on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Lorne of 15 years, her children Chloe, Patrick and Kendra, her parents Len and Lynette Kowalke, brother Rich, sister Cindy Ball (Kevin), parents in-law Albert and Carol Anderson, Lorne's brothers Bart (Maria), and Orville (Rekha), nephews and nieces Dylan and Abbigail Ball, and Gavin and Yasmin Anderson, and many extended relatives and friends. Leanne was born at St. Boniface Hospital on June 25, 1974. She grew up in Tyndall and attended school in Garson, Tyndall, Beausejour and Selkirk. She moved to Winnipeg and was a Child Care Worker for a time, then took the Health Care Aide course. She enjoyed working at River Park Gardens PCH, where she made many good friends. Lorne & Leanne met at Lord Selkirk School, and became high school sweethearts. They were married on Sept 1, 2001. They made their home in St. Vital and joined Faith Lutheran Church. Chloe was born on July 16, 2006, and they were delighted to welcome Patrick and Kendra on July 4, 2011. Leanne enjoyed reading, following her favorite You Tube families, and going out for lunch or coffee, but her greatest joys were her children, family and friends. She was a loving Mom who would do anything for her kids. Leanne lived her life with a can-do attitude, especially in the last 18 months, while she battled cancer. She was never afraid to try any option and always had faith and hope that the next course of treatment would be the one to cure her. She fought hard to stay and she never let the disease conquer her spirit. She was an inspiration to all of us and that truly showed in the constant stream of visitors coming to her home and hospital rooms. She was so loved. Special thanks go to H.S. Paul School, the Faith Lutheran Church family, and to all our many relatives and friends who have supported us in this time of need. The family also thanks the staff at Cancer Care, St. Boniface and HSC, as well as HSC Acute Care and St. Boniface Palliative Program, for their exceptional and comforting care. A celebration of Leanne's life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota St., Winnipeg, on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. A family interment of ashes will take place at the Lutheran Cemetery in Beausejour, MB on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg R3E 0V9 or to Faith Lutheran Church. • We are sorry to hear of Leanne's passing. I am so glad that Leanne has been a wonderful and supportive friend of mine since we met back in high school. One of my greatest memories is the times we spent in the basement hanging out and dancing until the wee hours in the morning, I will never forget how she was there for me back in 1991 when my sister Sarah passed away. Leanne made sure to check on me and talk to me during those rough times. I will be forever grateful for her support at Sarah's funeral when she stood up beside me when I read my poem I wrote on Sarah. I know that this is going to be hard for everyone, and my girls and I wish that we could be there to help support all of you through this rough farewell. I am grateful that I was able to spend some time with her in July when we came out for a visit. Rebecca will always cherish the memory she has of being able to see her Auntie Leanne on her 14th birthday. We are lighting a candle in her honor and are in the middle of making some special ornaments for the children which I will send in the new year. Leanne will always be one of my heroes and inspirations, as no matter what life threw at her she tackled it with such will and grace. Even during our last conversation, she was very upbeat. May each and every one of you find peace in knowing that she is no longer in pain. She will be waiting for each and everyone she loves to join her when the time is right, and then she will be there with open arms greeting us. God bless you all. - Posted by: Theresa Toms & daughters Rebecca & Elizabeth Sheard (High School friend (girls adopted Auntie)) on: Dec 16, 2016
