ANNE PIDZARKO September 24, 1920 - December 16, 2016 On December 16, 2016, at Oakview Place, Anne Pidzarko passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael; father Mykyta; mother Maria, and sister Olga. She will be forever cherished by her twin daughters: Christine Scalena (Jim) and Catherine Shaw, son William, and fondly remembered by her grandchildren Kenzie Shaw (Adam Weingarten), Adam Shaw, Peter More, and great-granddaughter Sonoma Weingarten Shaw, whom sadly, she never met. Born Anne Slobodian on September 24, 1920 in Fraserwood, MB, Mom was raised on the homestead and finished her grade 12 education in Gimli. In her youth, Mom played baseball and was quite an exceptional bowler. In 1950, she met her husband Michael at the family grocery store in the north end of Winnipeg. They married in 1952 and had 41 happy years together. Mom was a devoted homemaker, made the best perogies (according to her family) and loved to knit, do crossword puzzles and play cribbage and Scrabble with her grandchildren. Mom and Dad enjoyed many memorable Januarys in Hawaii. They thought it was heaven on earth. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22, at 10:00 a.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street, officiated by Fr. Eric Giddens. As per her wishes, a private family interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery. Our family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the compassionate staff at Oakview Place.
