FOSTER DAVID WADDEN December 12, 1937 - December 30, 2016 We the family of Foster David, announce his passing on December 30, 2016 at Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home with his family present. Foster was predeceased by his grandparents; parents; his son David in 1993 and his sisters, Pat and Joyce. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Mary Francis of 57 years; son Cameron Foster; granddaughters, Elexis and Clare; friend Karen; brother Gerald (Hubba); sisters, Joan, Mary Florence and Donna; many nieces and nephews and his very favourite nephew Michael. Foster was born in Glace Bay, NS and attended Caledonia High School after which he enlisted in the military 3RCHA. He retired from the military at age 40 as a Sargent. Following his military service he was employed at Sears Inkster in management. Foster always had a strong sense of civic pride and involvement in his community. He worked with the young children's hockey teams and received many trophies for his volunteer work in St. James. He served as a councilor on St. Francis Xavier Council and was a member of The Red River Masonic Lodge in Winnipeg as well as Morien Masonic Lodge in Cape Breton. He was a past member of the Shriner's in Winnipeg and Worthy Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Cape Breton. Foster was deeply devoted to family. Growing up he had a very strong supportive relationship with his paternal grandmother Wadden. He always said she was "his protector". He particularly enjoyed time spent at the Falcon Lake Cottage. He christened his boat, "Elexis Clare". For the past eight years, Foster struggled with Alzheimer's. Up to his last days he never lost his sense of humour or his dignity. He would often say "It's all I have left, that and my family. I have to keep control." We the family, would like to express our endless thanks to all the staff at Tuxedo Villa. Without their wonderful care and support, we could never have managed. A private family memorial service will take place at Westwood Presbyterian Church with Reverend Peter Bush officiating. Later his ashes will rest with his son David at St. John's Cathedral Columbarium. Bardal Funeral Home 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
