ELIZABETH (BETTY) JOSEPHINE GLOUX (nee OBERDING) July 14, 1939 - January 8, 2017 With her family by her side, Betty peacefully passed away at the Concordia Hospital on Sunday, January 8, 2017. She fought so hard to stay with us but God had a different plan for her. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Marcel, her parents Rose and Stephan, her sister Kay, and brothers Joe, Sam, Frank, Tommy, Nick, Steve and Ron. Left to mourn are her daughters, Brenda, Blandine (Ken), son Marcel Jr. and her many nephews and nieces. Betty was born and raised in Winnipeg. She enjoyed working at Queen's and Teens on Portage Avenue for a number of years and then worked at Rossmere Bowling Lanes where she and Marcel made many lasting friendships. Betty loved bowling and for many years bowled on the Women's 5 Pin Championship Bowling League. Betty was a wonderful devoted mother and a very kind and generous person, who always put others ahead of herself. She was an avid Bingo player and loved playing the slot machines at the Casinos where she was a very lucky lady. Cremation has taken place and private interment has been held. Friends and family may gather for a celebration of her life at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Wednesday, January 18 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba at (204) 949-2000. The family would like to thank the staff at the ICU and the N1 Unit at the Concordia Hospital for all of their care and compassion. Also, thank you to Pastor Peter. "Mom, you will be lovingly missed and forever in our hearts. We are going to miss our Beautiful Betty Boop." We are sad within our memory. Lonely are our hearts today; For the one we loved so dearly Has forever been called away. We think of her in silence. No eye may see us weep; But many silent tears are shed When others are asleep. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My condolence To the passing of your mother. My thoughts are with you and family. I remember my Aunt Betty as a beautiful lady full of life and fun. She love to play the slots I use to see her at the casino . It was a way to see her and catch up on family and friends. We all knew. Her bubbly personality shone through. Her smile was so warm and greeting. She will be missed . Lois - Posted by: Lois Walters (Niece Daughter of Sam and Norah Oberding) on: Jan 17, 2017

  • Betty was a beautiful kind caring woman to me and my three daughters and to everyone around her. At one time she was my bingo partner and we did lots of that together and buffets. She was so loving to my girls and so giving. Although I didn't make the time to see her in the last couple of years, she was still always on my mind. Betty, you will always be in our hearts and you will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go to the family. You are with your other loved ones now and at peace. - Posted by: Penny Enokson (Friend ) on: Jan 14, 2017
