LUISE LOWEN On January 16, 2017 at the Bethania Personal Care Home, Luise Lowen passed away at the age of 100 years. Luise was born on May 1, 1916 in Waldheim, Ukraine. She was predeceased by her husband Nick in 1994. Luise and her husband immigrated to Canada in 1957, and here, they enjoyed getting together with friends at home or at the cottage. They went on some trips, either with their son Gene, or by car, to visit their daughter Lani in Ontario. Luise took great pride in her garden, planting vegetables and flowers. They also joined the North Kildonan Mennonite Church and were thankful for the community they found in this church. A year after Nick passed away Luise moved into Kingsford Haus. She had hoped to spend her final days there, but in October 2015, it became necessary to move her into a care facility. She was very happy that it was the Bethania Home. At the end, there was very little she could do for herself anymore and she was ready to go. Luise is survived by her son Gene (Erika); daughter Lani (Waldemar) of Ontario; grandchildren, Melany Lowen, Robert (Cathy) Lowen, Richard (Alison) Lowen, Klaus (Shoko) Gade, Ruth Gade; and also great-grandchildren, Joey Lowen (partner Stacey), Danny Lushchyk, Emma Lowen, Abby Lowen, Alex Kellermann and Elisabeth Kellermann. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, with Rev. Ferdinand Funk officiating. Viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home for their dedication and care they provided for our mother in the last stretch of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethania Personal Care Home.
