Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISAAC GOERTZ Isaac Goertz of Winnipeg, MB, formerly of Kitchener, ON, passed into glory on Saturday, January 21, 2017. He is survived by his wife Frieda (Penner); children Bernhard (Lorna), Peter (Terrilynn), Karl (Joanne), Doris, and Marlene (Terry) Kesterke; sisters Mary Wiebe and Nitha Goertz; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Isaac was born on August 15, 1922 in Alexanderpol, Russia and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1929, settling in Arnaud, MB. He married Frieda Penner on October 4, 1952 and they spent the first three years of their married life on the farm in Arnaud. In November 1955, they moved to Kitchener, ON with their firstborn son and over the years they were blessed with four more children. Isaac began working at JM Schneiders in 1962 and retired in 1986. He loved God and church was very important to him. He was baptized in 1942 in the Roseau River in Manitoba. He was a faithful member of Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church where he served as deacon, usher and driver. He also loved singing in the Jubilation Male Chorus. In 2015 Isaac and Frieda moved to Winnipeg to be closer to their children and families. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at McIvor Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue with viewing prior to the service. Interment in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mennonite Brethren Mission available at the service, or a charity of one's choice.
