Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAYNE TARAS SAFRIUK June 28, 1949 - January 23, 2017 Peacefully, surrounded with love, Wayne Taras Safriuk, age 67, of Sirko, Manitoba, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, January 23, 2017. Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 47 years, Olly (Kraynyk), daughter Tiffanny and son-in-law Robert Latour, grandchildren: Shane, Erin and Owen. He also leaves three sisters: Gertie Gushulak, Leona Bilawchuk and Audrey (Clint) Dowd, mother-in-law Annie Kraynyk, four brothers-in-law: Larry (Joy), Brian (Sonia), Ira (Linda), Rodney (Wendy), one sister-in-law Maryann (Jim) Derewianchuk and their families. He was predeceased by his parents George and Florence Safriuk, father-in-law John Kraynyk, brothers-in-law Frank Gushulak and John Bilawchuk, and nephew James Kraynyk. Wayne was born on the family farm in Sirko, Manitoba. Most important to him was his wife Olly and their family, especially their grandchildren. Together they took every opportunity they could to attend Shane, Erin and Owen's sporting events while still maintaining a successful beef farm and driving school bus. Wayne enjoyed music. He always had the radio playing and would sing along, pick up his guitar to play along or take his wife and dance along to a favourite tune. He enjoyed hunting with the boys and visiting with friends and family. Wayne was always ready to share a laugh or joke and was a natural at entertaining and frequently the life of the party. Wayne was a great believer in God and lived his life with honour, compassion for others, and an open heart. Through his short illness, he never complained and always said, "It's in His Hands". He felt blessed to experience the overwhelming love and kindheartedness of so many family members and friends. He cherished every visit. Many thanks for the care, kindness and support of Dr. Matt Mercier and the neurology team at Health Sciences Centre, along with all the nurses and unit assistants on GH6 and DH5. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy. 52 West, Steinbach, MB. Viewing prior to the service. Interment at the Ascension Of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery in Sundown, MB. Lunch will follow the interment at Sundown Community Hall. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Wayne can be made to Ascension Of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery Fund, Box 58, Sundown, MB R0A 2C0. Forever in our hearts. We are so sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. His many heartwarming contributions to his community, family and friends will be cherished. May he rest in peace.
