ODILE HENRIETTE YVONNE PLAMONDON (nee PILLOUD) July 25, 1935 - January 16, 2017 Peacefully with her family at her side, Odile passed away at the age of 81. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Richard; daughters Patricia, Lucille (Rick) and Carol (Grant); grandchildren Tracy, Kim, Trevor, Brittany and Sean, great-grandchildren; Cory, Joey, Lemmy, Teague, Aimee and Adrianna. She also leaves to mourn her brother August (Jan) of Antioch, California, sisters-in-law Margaret and Jeannette of Winnipeg, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years Gerard (Gerry); parents Lucie and Louis Pilloud; sisters Irene and Agnes and brother Edmond. Odile was born in St. Claude, MB on July 25, 1935. In 1940 the family moved to Winnipeg where she attended Sacred Heart and Norquay schools before entering the work force with Ray-O-Vac of Canada and later with Reed Packaging where she remained for 32 years before retiring in 1987. Odile met Gerry in 1951 and the two were married in 1953 settling in Transcona to raise their four children. Her heart was as big as her smile and became a second mom to their children's friends growing up as kids. She was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain friends and family. She also had a great sense of humor and a competitive side when it came to sports events and playing cards. Odile loved shopping and travelling to places like the U.S., Europe, Dominican Republic and Mexico. But the best times closest to her heart, were spent with her family out at the lake in Keewatin or visiting the family farm. She instilled life's lessons and to respect all nature. A few of Odile's favorite things: her flower garden, raspberries, fresh clothes off the line, crossword puzzles, music, ten pin bowling and watching sports with Gerry. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose children and grandchildren was one of her greatest joys. She will be missed by all who came to know her. The family would like to thank the entire staff at St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their continuous care of quality of life and for their compassion and assistance during this difficult time. Service of Remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Green Acres Funeral Home & Cemetery, No. 1 Highway East at Navin Road. A private inurnment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Odile's memory may be made to CancerCare MB.
