AUDREY JOSEPHINE EKLUND
Born: Sep 02, 1930
Date of Passing: Jan 26, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUDREY JOSEPHINE (WHEAL) EKLUND September 2, 1930 - January 26, 2017 Audrey, beloved wife of Allan Eklund, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2017, at the age of 86. She leaves behind her husband Allan. They were married for 67 years. Audrey is survived by her daughters, Susan (Bruce) McKenzie, Kathy (Bob) Jackson; and son Kel (Irma) Eklund. Many grandchildren, Scott (Averie) Eklund, Tami (Brian) Ross, Kaitlyn (Cole) Petersen, James and Britta McKenzie, Matt, Joel and Chris Jackson; great-grandchildren, Kate and Nixon Eklund, and Finn Ross, as well as many nieces and nephews, both Eklunds and McIntyres. Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Elsie Wheal; her sister Jean McIntyre; and her granddaughter Marit McKenzie. Audrey was extremely proud of all her children and grandchildren and loved being with them. We all have many great memories at Jessica Lake where Allan and Audrey spent their happiest moments. Audrey loved the water and would float for hours on her beloved lake. Art and music were her personal passions and she was always creating something. As Marit once said, Grandma is very "crafty"; In more ways than one! Audrey joined an art studio on Clifton and spent many hours creating sculptures, making many new friends whom she treasured dearly. Audrey was a very intelligent woman who was tuned in to all those around her. She had strong opinions on most important issues and did not hesitate to express them. She knew right from wrong and wasn't afraid to defend those she cared for. We all knew when wife/mom/grandma had something on her mind; a beautiful mind that was both curious and engaged with everything around her. We all lost innumerable scrabble and card games to Audrey over the years. In the end, Allan and Audrey together taught us about life, love and commitment for 67 years. Audrey lived a life of love and purpose and it was well lived. Our family "Matriarch" Audrey was an example to us all and we will miss her greatly and remember her forever. The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff of E Wing Medical Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital for your kindness and care of our Audrey. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or the David Foster Foundation. Allan please accept our sincere condolences on your loss. To Kelly, Susan, Kathy and their families we extend our sympathy on their loss as well. Our common ground was always Jessica Lake and how we always caught up on the goings on in our respective families. We hope that we continue to see all of you from time to time at the lake. - Posted by: Diane and Neil McMillan (Jessica Lake Neighbour) on: Feb 10, 2017
