Date of Passing: Feb 08, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERIC PETER BRENNAN August 9, 1950 - February 8, 2017 After a lengthy hospital stay, Eric passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre. Eric was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Margaret Brennan. He is survived by his two beloved sons Ryan and Anthony of Winnipeg and sister Mandy of BC. Eric had two passions that he excelled at; ballroom dancing and computers with a superb handle on technology. His prowess in dancing was best described as an exceptional talent. Eric wished to sincerely thank the staff at Prime Program (Misericordia Centre) for their outstanding care. He attended Prime regularly to socialize and above all received prompt nursing and medical care which he required. As his health declined, this care kept him at home longer in stable condition. In keeping with Eric's wishes, no formal service will be held. A small gathering of family and friends is planned in spring in his honour. He left us too early - we will miss him!! I've been a friend of Eric's for about 32 years, he taught be to ballroom dance which I've enjoyed all these years until recently. I am so sorry to hear that he has passed away but I know in the last year or two he was suffering a great deal with his health and not being able to dance as he could in the past. He will be missed by all his entourage of ladies who enjoyed dancing with him as well as his wit and humour. He was a little devil but sure could entertain you. I was 14 or 15 years old when I took up roller skating at the Winnipeg Roller Rink on Portage & Langside. That's when I first saw Eric dancing on roller skates. I was too shy at that time to speak to him -- he would have been about 20 years old -- so I just watched in amazement and envied his talent and agility. It was years later when I entered the world of dance and trained to become a teacher that I would run into him at various functions. I can't recall if he was teaching at the time (probably) but he could certainly dance!!! Someone had said that he was self-taught. That's pretty amazing in itself. Over the years we got to be friends through dance even though we might run into each other only once every year or two. I could always go him for advice pertaining to our craft. He was always generous with his time and would give of it freely and enthusiastically. I could send him a video clip of a pattern that I was stumped by and he would take the time to sort through it and walk me through. For a time he was a member of the Manitoba Ballroom Dance Instructors' Association. But because he didn't drive it eventually became too inconvenient to attend the meetings. Eric... I'm sorry you had to leave us so early. You and your talent will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathy to his family. When you have the gathering in the spring to honour him I would appreciate being included if it's convenient. Kathryn McGuire - Posted by: Kathryn McGuire (Friend) on: Feb 11, 2017
