Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA HILDEBRANDT February 17, 1919 - February 18, 2017 Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother, Anna Hildebrandt passed away peacefully, at the age of 98 on February 18, 2017, at Bethania Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband Henry in 2011. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Rita and husband Jake, daughter Renate and husband Bill, son Walter and wife Terry; eight grandchildren and their partners; 15 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. Anna was born on February 17, 1919, in Gladyen, Russia. Her early childhood was spent in comfortable surroundings, within a loving and supportive family. But like so many other Mennonites of that generation, she lived through times of turmoil, war, loss and change, and then learned to adapt to a new home in a new country. Family was very important to Mom and she found her greatest satisfaction within the circle of her family. She took a keen interest in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always ready to attend all of their special events and she never failed to ask and to worry about everyone. She loved the outdoors and every spring she looked forward to seeing the first robin, watching the return of the geese, and preparing her garden. She was an accomplished homemaker who entertained frequently. She was active in her church community and a ready volunteer in the church and for Westgate Mennonite Collegiate. She kept informed, she loved concerts, the ballet, figure skating, and the learning that came from travel. We will miss her and we will remember her energy, her quiet strength, her selflessness, her compassion for those less fortunate, and the great love she had for all of us. We are so grateful for the time we had with her and thankful that we had time to say good-bye. We will always hold her close in our hearts. We thank the wonderful staff in the South Wing of Bethania who looked after Mom and showed her so much kindness and caring. If family and friends wish, a donation may be made to Bethania Personal Care Home/Therapeutic Gardens. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch Street, with viewing prior to the service. A reception will follow. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery.
