In 1942, he returned to Vita, MB and worked on the family farm. In 1944, he married his sweetheart, Wasylyna Sopiwnyk at the Nativity of the Blessed Mother on the Sopiwnyk farm. They farmed in Sundown, MB for about nine years and then moved to Winnipeg in 1957. 'Tato' began working for Burns Meats and then at the Labatts Breweries for 32 years until his retirement in 1989. 'Gigo' was a man of great faith, which gave him strength and wisdom. He devoted his life to his family, church and friends. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and then Holy Eucharist Parish where he was in numerous church organizations, including the Brotherhood, Knights of Columbus Council #11330, Seniors Club, SOUP (Sons of the Ukrainian Pioneers), volunteering at weekly bingos and perogy making.
