RICHARD IVAN HOLODRYGA 1956 2017 On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, Rick left us far too soon. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Elaine; sons, Craig and Conrad; eight brothers; two sisters and their families. Rick will be welcomed with loving arms by his father and mother, John and Nettie and sister Mary. Rick was born and raised in Tolstoi and with the exception of a decade spent his whole life there. He was employed by Manitoba Hydro for 36 years, 24 of those years he commuted from Tolstoi so he could pursue his true passion of farming. Upon his retirement in 2011, Rick lived his dream of full time farming and being his own boss and taking vacations to travel. Community and church were important to Rick. He served as treasurer of our church for 19 years and as secretary 20 years and vice-president 10 years of the hall in Tolstoi, volunteering of himself and installed that wonderful trait in his boys. Family was also a very big part of Rick's life. Rick tried very hard to be a part of all gatherings and enjoyed nothing more than visiting with his brothers and sisters and their families. Rick was a hardworking, easy going man that many called friend and will be missed by them all as well as his wife and boys. Prayers will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 W, Steinbach, MB. Private family funeral service and interment at a later date. If so desired, donations may be made in Rick's memory to Tolstoi Holy Ghost Orthodox Church Cemetery Fund, Box 129, Tolstoi, MB, R0A 2E0 Vichnyna Pamyat! Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030

  • My sincere condolences on the passing of Rick, I worked with him for a year at Dorsey. It was an absolute pleasure to work with him and I can't recall working with anyone who was so easy to get along with and who had such a great sense of humor. May God rest his soul.
