PETER SPEROS SCOURAS
Born: Nov 15, 1983
Date of Passing: Feb 20, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER SPEROS SCOURAS It is with profound sadness we grieve the passing of Peter Scouras on February 20, 2017. Peter was tragically taken from us while vacationing in Costa Rica. He leaves behind his mother Vicky; brother Demitris (Tracy); sister Elena; niece Chloe; nephews Yianni and Xander; along with countless family members and friends. Peter was predeceased by his father John. Peter was born November 15, 1983 in Winnipeg, Manitoba many years after his brother and sister, which led him to being referred to as the family's "pleasant surprise". Peter was a beautiful man inside and out. With his trademark laugh, smile and his welcoming arms always ready with a bear hug, he touched the lives of everyone he met and made everyone feel important. He was loving, affectionate, genuine, intelligent, funny and fun to be around. Peter worked hard and played hard and his curiosity to learn and experience the world always led him to his next new adventure. At the tender age of 23, Peter stepped into a management role at the Red Top Restaurant after the sudden passing of his father John while vacationing in Greece in 2007. Despite the challenges this unexpected role presented he never complained, but instead seamlessly and effortlessly continued the legacy John started. With his pleasant demeanor Peter made every customer feel special and embraced them with the same open arms his father did before him. Peter was an accomplished athlete in various sports at St. Paul's High School and the University of Manitoba, but his true love was rugby. He was still active as a player and was serving as the President of the University of Manitoba Wombats Rugby Club. Peter was a born leader, always full of drive and determination, yet with a compassionate heart. His leadership and mentorship will be missed both on and off the field. Peter's sudden passing is nothing short of tragic and a profound loss to his family, friends and community. He was one of a kind, loved by all and words cannot express how deeply he will be missed. Anyone who had the luxury of meeting Peter will forever be touched by him. May his memory be eternal and may some of the last words Peter spoke to a good friend be a life lesson to us all about what is most important in life : "When was the last time I said that I love you?" Prayers will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the "Peter Scouras Memorial Fund" at any RBC branch. www.voyagefuneralhome.com

With my deepest sympathy to the family of Peter Scouras, I did not know Peter but I love to watch Food Channel, and I saw that he is a Restaurant owner of Red Top and I kind of got interested on finding out where is this Restaurant since I haven't been there, and whole reading the menu I saw a special tribute on his behalf and started reading news about his passing, I felt saddened by the his passing while vacationing, what a really great loss he is very young although I won't be able to meet this amazing person he is, it's an honor to be in the same city where he made so much memories and making difference in many people's lives, it's been almost 2 years now I'm sure his family misses him very much, my sincerest sympathies goes to his families and friends. - Posted by: Elizabeth Del Rosario (Fellow Winnipeggers) on: Jan 28, 2019

Having spent my high school years with Pete I can honestly say he was genuine, upright, and always caring. We were both raised by hard working entrepreneurial parents with family business, and that gave us common ground right of the bat. He had a great sense of humor, and anyone who heard is laugh could never forget it; you could pick it out of a crowd. He was also strong as an ox! It was great to have known you Pete, however brief of a time. I guess God needed you more than we did. It will be great you get to see your Dad again! - Posted by: Davy Doer (St. Paul's High School Classmate) on: Mar 07, 2017

I count myself fortunate to have met Peter, if only once and very briefly. In the short exchange we had, I felt his warmth and sincerity. I distinctly remember (it struck me enough to comment about it to my husband that evening) that Peter had an actual sparkle in his eye. He emitted kindness. I wish I could have known that would be the one and only time we'd cross paths so I could extend our chat. But I will remain grateful to have had the opportunity to meet Peter in this life. My most heartfelt condolences to Demitris and his entire family for your profound loss. I had the pleasure to coach Peter is his late teen years and his compassion for sport and his teammates is something I will never forget. As he grew into manhood and to watch his accomplishments and how he treated those around him gave me extreme pride in knowing him. I know Peter would want us to love our families deeply, enjoy those around us and give back to our community. Everyone who knew Peter could easily tell his love for people and his love of sport. I will miss him and with a heavy heart offer my thoughts and prayers to his mom, brother and sister , niece and nephews and his entire family. Rest in Peace Peter......angels await! - Posted by: Vic Hiebert (Coach/Friend ) on: Mar 05, 2017
