Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTEKLA (TENA) LUCZENCZYN February 21, 1926 - April 3, 2017 Tekla (Tena) Luczenczyn (née Ficzora), on April 3, 2017, passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre. She is survived by her sons Jerry and Stephan, daughter Maria (Irwin), and daughter-in-law Shirley; her grandchildren Andrew, Samantha, Jerry Junior, Christopher, Maggie (Blake), Zane, and Brianna; great-grandchildren Cayden and Kaylee; and family in Ukraine. She was predeceased by her husband Oleksa (Alex), and her eldest son Peter. Tekla was born in Jabloniv, Ukraine on February 21, 1926. She and Oleksa met after the war in a German work camp. They immigrated to England, where they married in 1948 and started their family. They were married for 64 years. Tekla was a stay-at-home mom; she was a fantastic cook, and her food and skills were always sought after by friends and family. In her later years she was still helping to prepare perogies at the church. She enjoyed blueberry and mushroom picking, sewing, gardening, and knitting. Her pride was in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She retained her sense of humour and appreciation for life right until the end. She was greatly loved by all and will be missed. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Michael Buyachok on Monday, April 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor St., followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193 www.korbanchapel.com

Chocha Tekla We will miss your great sense of humor and your jokes. I remember fondly the gatherings at the LUCZENCZYN residence on St John's where multiple families met for supper and drinks and a good time. Tekla was the hostess and the food was always delicious. I am glad to have know you and may you rest in peace - Posted by: Eugene Brokopiw & Lorna Guse () on: Apr 11, 2017
