FRANK KLASSEN February 1, 1931 - April 20, 2017 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Klassen of Grunthal, Manitoba, on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Frank will be missed by his loving wife Irene (nee Peters) Klassen of 60 years and his children: Linda Edwards (Kevin), Ronald Klassen (Leona), Lois Brothers and Pam Lawrence (Ian). He also leaves to mourn his brothers: John, Dave, and George, and sister Helen O'Conner. Frank was blessed with 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents John D. and Helena Klassen of Steinbach, his brother Jacob Klassen, his sister Mary Norman and his grandson Benjamin Brothers. Frank was born and raised on the farm in Grunthal, Manitoba. He moved into the city of Winnipeg as a young adult where he met his lovely bride Irene and raised their family. He worked as a steel cutter at Drummond Mccall. Adding to his experience in steel he learned welding at Manitoba Institute of Technology. He left the steel industry to become a self-employed carpenter and this is where he spent the majority of his working life. His meticulous approach to his trades spilled over into his hobby interests, and his handcrafting was amazing in beauty and detail. He was quiet about this expertise, rarely drawing attention to his artistic bent. He was practical in his creating as well, making many articles of needed furniture for his family. Most important to Dad was his strong faith in God. This legacy has been passed to his children, and continues now with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank will be forever missed. The viewing will take place on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. The funeral service to be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grunthal EMB Church on 84 Oak Avenue in Grunthal. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank may be made to the Grunthal EMB Church. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030
