BERNICE ELEANOR PATRICK (nee KUBIC) February 3, 1943 - April 21, 2017 Bernice passed away peacefully on April 21, 2017 at the St. Boniface Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones: beloved husband Larry Ross, daughter-in-law Maryann Slot, adoptive daughter Nancy Whittman, and grandchildren Andrew Provenski and Kira Kennedy. Bernice was a woman with a massive heart and open arms. Anyone who has had the privilege to meet Bernice has become her adoptive child, grandchild, sibling and/or best friend. Although we are saddened, we take comfort in that she has gone to be with her three children Darryl, Cheryl and Dwayne up in heaven. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street with Father Walter Klimchuk officiating. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their constant care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bernice's memory to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Bernice, you will always be our warrior.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Bernice has been my best friend for 38 years and will hold that title for the rest of my life. We have helped each other to get through so much during this time.... the good, the bad and the ugly. We have so many memories, some of them, we have laughed about for years and just recently shared a few with friends and family. We also had many that we cried about. We just acknowledged that we were the sisters that neither of us had. I can't tell you how much I will miss my best friend. 💔 - Posted by: Donna Fletcher (Best Friend for 38 years) on: Apr 27, 2017

  • I had the wonderful opportunity to get to know Berne at home Depot. She was always a wonderful fun-loving soul. Berne was the type of lady that was always in high spirits no matter what she was facing. Whenever anyone that she took into her heart, which was pretty much every single soul that she encountered, was feeling down, stressed, or upset...you could always count on her to give you a strong word of encouragement, or a good "kick in the butt" whichever one you needed. Berne was such a special loving soul that touched every heart that she came in contact with. Thank you my wonderful surrogate mother for every thing you did, every word of advice, every bit of help no matter how big or small, and the love and caring that just emminated from your loving heart. You will be sadly missed and very fondly remembered by everyone that knew you. My sincerest and deepest condolences go oUT to the entire family, blood or not, may her loving memory live on in every single heart she touched and blessed with everything that she was. Farewell dear heart, may you rest in peace with the loved ones gone before you. - Posted by: Chris Holland (Co-worker/friend) on: Apr 27, 2017

  • Bernice was my "other mother", my Mommy P. Cheryl was my best friend for 31 years. Bernice is one of the most wonderful people that one could ever let touch your heart. Bernice, you will be missed greatly by all that knew you. Always cheerful even after going through all that you did. Give our Cheryl a huge hug for me....miss you now and always - Posted by: Janet Davis (Family) on: Apr 27, 2017

  • Bernice was my district supervisor when I worked for UCS in the Woolco smoke shops in 1986. Bernice was not only my supervisor but my mentor and friend. I started as a part time employee and worked my way up to manager. It was Bernice's confidence, trust and guidance which shaped my adult perspective in business for the rest of my life. A truly magnificent person. I am much saddened by her passing. My deepest condolences to Larry and Bernice's surviving family. Karen - Posted by: Karen Krasicki (Employee ) on: Apr 26, 2017

  • Bernice took me into her life and heart when I met Dwayne. When my mother passed away Bernice promised to take care of me for her. She took me into her life and into her heart as her own daughter. May you find the peace and happiness you deserve Mom and always know the love I have for you. Until we meet again for those dice game, say hello to Dwayne my Honey for me. Love you and see you again one day - Posted by: Maryann Slot (Daughter-In-Law) on: Apr 26, 2017

  • Bernice was a wonderful woman and boss. I had the pleasure of working with her at Discovery Zone (DZ) since I was 16 years old until the age of 21 when it went bankrupt. I always said that I would still be working there if it was open and Bernice was one of those reasons. She was a true and genuine person. I was very saddened to hear about this. Lots of love Alison - Posted by: Alison Petrelli (Trethart) (She was my old boss) on: Apr 25, 2017

  • I went to school with Cheryl for years, I worked at Woolco when Bernice was there. I lost track of Bernice and Cheryl over the years. I started work at HD on Mcphillips and there is Bernice! I did not know that Cheryl had passed away. Bernice was the best, if you were having a bad day she could change that! One in a million, the best, always a smile! - Posted by: Ken Kowaluk (Former Co-worker) on: Apr 25, 2017
