Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES JOSEPH GIBBONS September 2, 1928 - April 24, 2017 Our family was sad to say our goodbyes to Dad / Papa who died at Grace Hospital at the age of 88. Predeceased by his youngest son Gregory, Dad / Papa leaves to mourn his daughter Shar Lynn; son Jim (Iriss); son Randy (Rose) as well as 16 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Dad worked at CNR for decades as a switchman and Hudson's Bay as a shoe salesman until he retired at age 58. He enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, living as a snowbird in Arizona, visiting his son and family in Vancouver and Palm Springs and taking long walks through the English Gardens. He was a great lover of music, golf, tennis, American football, old movies and was an avid reader. As per Dad's request, there will be no formal service and a private family interment will be held at a later date. Please join us for a luncheon at Westhaven Retirement Community, 3033 Portage Avenue on Sunday May 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thanks to staff at Grace Hospital, Deer Lodge Centre, Westhaven Retirement Community, as well as the many home care workers and nurses.
