ISOBEL KATHLEEN INGRAM (nee BOYD) It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Isobel Kathleen Ingram on April 24, 2017, with her family by her side. Left to cherish her memory are her son Neil (Susan), daughter Lynn (Jeff) Reimer, grandchildren Brian, Heather (Mike Young), Scott (Christine) Hay, Graeme, Melanie Reimer (Brian Lau), great-grandson Dallas Hay, along with Doug (Cindy) MacKenzie who mom considered an extra son in our home, cousins Don (Elaine) and Lynne Rewcastle, brothers-in-law Alan (Sonja), Doug(Jean), Ken Townsend, sisters-in-law Margaret Hughesman, Gloria and Irene Ingram and many nieces and nephews all of whom she was very fond and held treasured memories. Kay was predeceased by her parents Edward and Georgina, five year old son Boyd in 1956, and husband Bruce recently in 2014 after 66 years of marriage, and her cousins Ted Sr., Sadie, Albert, Peggy and Ted Rewcastle Jr. Kay was also predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law Agnes (Clayton) Morrison, Betty Townsend, Jean Ingram, Ed, George and Kenny Ingram, Ron Hughesman and nephews Glenn Morrison and Dale Hughesman. Mom was born at home and lived in the Morse Place area of EK. She attended Salisbury School, East Kildonan Collegiate and Success Business College where she became a bookkeeper. Mom met Dad when the Ingram's lived across the street from her. They were married July 3, 1948 and spent their first four years living in Saskatoon where they enjoyed many new friends and new experiences. They returned to Winnipeg and raised their family in the EK/NK area where they spent the rest of their years. Kay was a devoted Mom and "Dad" over the years as Bruce's work took him away from home for long periods of time. She was a warm, caring, loving mom to her children, grandchildren and great-grandson when they arrived. Grandma was always following and encouraging them whether it was for school, hockey, soccer, golf, curling, or needing help with a recipe, as "no one makes it better than Grandma". Mom's happy place was spent at Rossmere Country Club where she enjoyed many happy times with her friends, her ladies, the "Golden Girls". Kay was honoured as the First Designated Life Member of the Rossmere Ladies Curling Club having curled at the club when the ladies originated and still there when the Ladies league dispersed. Bruce and Kay enjoyed many Briers and Provincial play downs with friends over the years and always enjoyed being with their group from across the West for this yearly get together with old friends and new friends. Mom loved to read, listen to music, talk about current events, watch sports from curling to hockey to baseball and golf, but most of all she loved time with her family to laugh and smile and catch up with everyone. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Darcy Johnson for his excellent care and special friendship to mom over the years and to his wonderful staff as well, and to the N1 North Unit at Concordia Hospital especially Nurses Anna and Joanne for their excellent care. We would also like to give a warm thank you to Lena and Lynn at Devonshire House II for your friendship and all the little extras you did for our mom over the years, also to Yana and Carol, mom's Homecare workers, for being so kind and caring. We cannot forget our very special family friend George Robertson for all the coffee visits and phone calls that meant so much. In respect of Kay's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A reception in celebration of Kay's life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on May 2 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are graciously declined. If friends wish to honour Kay, donations may be made to Manitoba Lung Association, Kidney Foundation Manitoba, or Heart and Stroke Foundation Manitoba.
