RALPH MATHEW ERICKSON January 17, 1944 - May 1, 2017 Peacefully, with family by his side, Ralph passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on May 1, 2017 following a courageous fight with cancer. Ralph will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Julie (Warren) Loupin from Steinbach, Sherry (Spencer) Schellenberg from Winnipeg, Michelle (Evan) Williams from Newport Beach, Calilfornia; and their mother, Erika Bartsma; seven grandchildren, Cody, Shenise, Eden, Lily, Archer, Evan and Jack; brother Jimmy (Edna) Erickson; sister Shirley (Dwaine) Mollard; nieces, nephews and friends. Ralph was predeceased by his parents Walter and Margaret Erickson and brother Wally. Ralph attended Riverview and Churchill High Schools where he played with the Churchill Bulldogs football team. Ralph had a love for hockey and played Junior, Senior and Oldtimers. He was an avid Jets fan and was always right up to date with the NHL stats. Ralph was employed by Scott National Paper in Winnipeg where he excelled at sales and was later promoted to Manager of their Lethbridge, Alberta Division. Ralph was a devoted family man who was very proud of his children and grandchildren's accomplishments. His greatest pleasure was spending time with them at family gatherings. He also had a close relationship with his brother, sister and their families. Everybody loved their "Uncle Ralph"! Ralph enjoyed his last five years living at Cathedrale Manor in Winnipeg where he developed many new friendships. The family wishes to thank the staff at Cathedrale Manor and 5B of the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care. A special thanks to Dr. Penner and Dr. Wong. A celebration of Ralph's life will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 at Cathedrale Manor, 321 Cathedrale Avenue, Winnipeg.
