ANNE ROSE MELNYK
Born: Sep 26, 1957
Date of Passing: Apr 25, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE ROSE MELNYK Her music has stopped. The songs are silent. On April 25, 2017, Anne Rose Melnyk has gone to join the Angel Choir. Anne, the youngest of five children, was born in Swan River, Manitoba on September 26, 1957 to Elias and Nadia Melnyk. She started singing at age four in the Russian-Ukrainian Evangelical Church in Benito, Manitoba and continued singing until her untimely death. Anne had a strong faith in God. She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age and served Him faithfully. She was very active in the church wherever she was. Anne was predeceased by her father in December 2000; her mother in January 2008; and her brother-in-law Alex McKinnon in 1987. She leaves to mourn, her three sisters, Lydia McKinnon, Ruth (Jeff) Riesen, Mary Melnyk-Muz (Don); and her brother Nick (Esther) Melnyk. She was "Nanny Anne" to her 10 nephews and nieces: Cheryl McKinnon, Carrie McKinnon, Gwen (Borden) Smid, Eric Matyas, Tim (Keri) Melnyk, Neal McKinnon, Nicole (Ron) Young, Sean Matyas, Sara Matyas (Josh Bergmann) and Aimée Melnyk; two grandnieces, Cedar Smid and Meadow Smid; grandnephew, Jonathan Young; uncle Adam Yakubowich and aunt Mary Zagorski and their families, and her spoiled cat, Cougar. Anne moved to Winnipeg at age nine and moved back home to Benito when she retired in 2014, looking forward to her "Peace in the Valley". Family was important to Anne and she made several trips to Ukraine and Russia to find and connect with relatives there. Anne's chosen field of work was in the Graphic Arts. She worked in the printing business in Winnipeg and Toronto before starting her own business, "IMPRESSIONS" in partnership with her sister, Ruth. She worked mostly with the Ukrainian Community, both locally and internationally - printing, designing, and translating. She was hired by Wawanesa Insurance to run their printing department and worked there until her retirement in 2014. Anne's love of music took her around the world where she was able to sing in many solos, groups and choirs. She, Nick and Ruth travelled and sang in many churches through the years as the Manna Singers. One of her dreams came true when she was able to sing with the O'Koshetz Choir in Winnipeg. She was involved in many Ukrainian organizations around the world and didn't know how to say "No" to anyone. She will be greatly missed. The family thanks the staff at Women's Hospital and Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg as well as all the doctors and nurses who tried so hard to find a way to save her life. It was important to Anne that no one should go hungry. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to organizations that feed the hungry and homeless, and who look after those in need, wherever they are. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Anne's life will be Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg and Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Durban Covenant Church, Durban, Manitoba.

Nannie Annie taught me to love singing and to always welcome people into my home. Those are beautiful lessons I will pass on to my two girls, whom Annie loved dearly. - Posted by: Gwen Smid (Niece) on: May 08, 2017

My heart is broken, I have lost another dear friend. Our dear Annie is now in HEAVEN leading the choir. Happy for her but so sad for us. Annie has left a huge void in this old world. She always walked the talk and helped everyone. That beautiful voice and beautiful lady inside/out. I was to be meeting with her this year and going all over Manitoba with her, etc. I guess we now have to do that in HEAVEN when my day comes. Forever in my heart dear, dear sister Annie. RIP. xo My sympathy/thoughts/prayers with her brother Nick Melnyk and the whole family. May the good Lord wrap His loving arms around all the grieving people. Mary Melnyk Muz - beautiful write up.
