Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK THIESSEN It was unexpected, but not a surprise that Frank Thiessen passed away. Born June 14, 1928 south of Horndean, Manitoba he was number 10 out of 12 children of Abram A. and Maria (Giesbrecht) Thiessen. He died on May 2, 2017 at 7:05 p.m. at the Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg MB with his wife and family by his side. He married Neta Bergen on July 11, 1948. After moving to Winnipeg "just for the winter" in 1949, he worked in a few jobs before being hired on permanently at Greater Winnipeg Gas where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 1989. Experiencing changes in his health was a challenge for Dad. As his body and memory began to betray him, and he could no longer do what he expected of himself, he struggled. He frequently spoke of how he longed to be released from this life. God was gracious and allowed Dad to pass away peacefully. He is survived by his wife Neta; one son Bernie (Elvira; Victoria and Malcolm); five daughters Sue Sawatsky and her family Bevan; Laresa and husband Arbi Arzoumani and daughter Alina; Lois; Lil Goertzen (George; Julie; Jason and wife Tara and daughters Dana and Jenna); Ginny Thiessen (Wes; Raymond and Eric); Cyndi Gifford (Al; Brady and Dayne Friesen). He was predeceased by his son-in-law Ron Sawatsky in 2014. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Dad remained firm is his faith and commitment to God. Psalm 121: from where comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, maker of Heaven and earth. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., with devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg. I have fond memories of Frank & Neta. We had just moved to Ontario from Mexico in 1989 and Frank & Neta had just begun their work at what is now the Blenheim Mennonite Church. They were kind people and helped our family in more ways than one. Later on they also provided bible study at the Blenheim public school which many Mennonite kids attended. I remember one time, they invited us to attend an evening service in Leamington, they picked us up and myself, my four brothers, my mom and Frank & Neta all packed into his blue Lincoln Town Car, I sat front in the middle. I could tell early on that he was very passionate about doing God's work. Rest in Peace, Frank. - Posted by: Ben Froese (acquaintance) on: Nov 05, 2018

I have very fond memories of the many times I spent at your place when I took my training in St Boniface. We very much appreciated the times Frank found a good car for us. Now Frank and Joe enjoy their heavenly home. - Posted by: Helen Pope (Friend) on: May 07, 2017
