Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCEE JACYSZYN August 18, 1925 - May 12, 2017 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Baba and Prababa, Joycee Jacyszyn, on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the age of 91 years. Joycee was born in the Ternopil Region of Ukraine to Alexander and Annia Szkwarek. She grew up in Ukraine until the age of 17. Then she was taken by the German Army to work in forced labour in Austria until 1945. Unable to find her family in Ukraine after the war she decided to start her life over in Canada with her two year old son, Harry. She was sponsored by her uncle to come to North Battleford, SK where she lived for a year and then moved to Red Lake, ON for work. She settled in Winnipeg in 1955 where she met and married Paul Jacyszyn. Joycee was a dedicated and hard worker in the restaurant business for many years. She was an amazing chef and loved to entertain people at her home. Anyone was always welcome at her house and no one would ever leave hungry. Joycee was an extremely religious and devout woman. She was a long time member of Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Cathedral and the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League. Her way of being, her spirit, humour and determination to make the best of life is an important lesson to us all. She had a heart of gold and her generosity had no bounds. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She beamed with pride and happiness during visits and facetiming with them. Joycee was predeceased by her husband Paul Jacyszyn, several siblings, in-laws and other extended family. Joycee leaves to mourn her son Harry (Marika) Szkwarek, grandchildren: Andriy (Michelle), Stefan (Karen), Lida (Michael), great grandchildren Liam, Sarah, Mila and Katya as well as sisters Maria Stefanyshyn, Anelia Kupczak and Stanislava Rudnyk. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family in Canada and Poland. Joycee's family would like to thank the staff of Seven Oaks Palliative Care for their kind and compassionate care. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated by The Right Rev. Msgr. Michael Buyachok on Monday, May 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Joycee's memory to the LUBOV Foundation - Holy Family Home Fund, 1085 Main Street, R2W 3S1. Chrystos Voskres!
