LEONARD ROBERT AMMETER
Born: Mar 16, 1944
Date of Passing: Jun 04, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD ROBERT AMMETER With his loving family at his side, Leonard Robert Ammeter peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017. Born March 16, 1944 in Winnipeg, MB, Leonard was brought home to Starbuck and never left. He was predeceased by his parents, Ewald and Irene (nee Vier). Left to cherish his memory is Shirley, his children Shawn (Pam) and Tracy (Gary), and his grandchildren Mitchell (Molly), Reid, Zachary and Martine. Dad started his plumbing apprenticeship with Francis Bouska in 1961. One and a half years later he started with Easton Plumbing in Winnipeg, and received his journeyman's ticket in 1967. In 1972, Len established "Len's Plumbing and Heating" in Starbuck, which expanded quickly and then followed with the backhoe, septic service and port-a-potties. Dad loved a social life, and being around his friends gave him great joy. His quick wit, sense of humour and "iconic wave" are definitely going to be missed. Dad's earlier days were spent at Miller's campground with the family, gardening and curling. He loved attending car races at Winnipeg Speedway; the love of racing was passed on to his children. Lenny was a GM man! His new vehicles purchased from Gillis Garage, and later Janzen GM, made him so happy. Dad was proud of his children and grandchildren, he loved us all. Thanks to all who have supported our family, your kindness has overwhelmed us. The special home care angels who attended to Dad, you will always have a special place in our hearts. The family would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the Victoria General Hospital staff of 5N, Dr. Adam and Dr. Young. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Starbuck Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorial Service 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MB. Lunch will follow the service. Bardal Funeral Home 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
