Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE MAXWELL (MAX) LAING With family by his side, Max Laing passed away at the Boyne Lodge on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the age of 97. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: son Bob (Ann) Laing and daughter Doreen (Jack) Bray; four grandchildren: Dennis (Lori) Laing, Lori Laing, Julie Lanzone, and Matthew (Susie) Bray; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Winnie; his parents, George and Mable Laing; infant son, Raymond; siblings, Lloyd (Peggy) Laing, Alice (Roland) Parkinson, Charlie (Mary) Laing and Lois (Jack) Wynne. After leaving school, Max went to work for Baragar Bros. on road construction. In 1939, he started farming and spending the winters in northern Manitoba on freight haul with Tom Lamb Freighting to Ilford, Wabowden, God's Lake and surrounding areas. Dad and Mom were married in 1942 and farmed in the Ingleside District before moving to Wingham in 1976 and then to Elm Creek in 2001. After retiring, he enjoyed taking the grandchildren to skating, hockey and ball games. He enjoyed hunting, curling and golf. Dad and Mom travelled to Vancouver, Texas, Florida, California and a cruise to Alaska. A service to celebrate Max's life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Elm Creek Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Elm Creek Cemetery. Memorial donation may be made to Boyne Lodge, Box 910, Carman, Manitoba R0G 0J0 or the Elm Creek Cemetery (R.M. of Grey, Box 99, Elm Creek, Manitoba R0G 0N0).
