PAUL CHIPMAN Peacefully, after a brief illness, it is with personal sadness that we announce the death of Paul Chipman on June 29, 2017, at Victoria General Hospital, at the age of 95 years. Paul was born in Winnipeg in 1922 and lived there all his life except for five years of wartime service. He joined the R.C.A.F. at age 18 and served as a photographer in Canada, and then went to England as an air-bomber with the R.A.F. 101 Squadron. Paul married Mary Sharp while in England and brought her back to Winnipeg where they raised three children, Jennifer, Wendy and Chris. Mary passed away in 1972 after a wonderful marriage of 27 years. Paul's business career was in photography, first with Ducks Unlimited, then with Phillips Gutkin and Associates. He later formed a partnership with Neil Campbell as Campbell & Chipman Photographers. Paul's hobbies were camping, canoeing, hunting, reading, painting, digital photography, and computers. Paul married a second time to Marguerite Manveiler who passed away in 1985. Paul was also predeceased by his parents, and his sister Barbara Kilvert. Paul is survived by his third wife of 31 years, Josephine, his daughters, Jennifer Brown and Wendy Bissky, and his son Chris Chipman, as well as his sons-in-law Rick Brown and David Bissky, and his daughter-in-law Melisa Chipman, his grandsons Jeffrey Brown (Colette) and Andrew Chipman, and his granddaughters Allyson Matthews (Jeff) and Angela Chipman. During the later years of his life, he and Josephine started the formation for the Healing Ministry at St. Ignatius Church which they taught for 13 years. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford Street on Thursday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Joseph Newman, SJ officiating. Private family interment will be at St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Ignatius Healing Ministry or the Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre would be appreciated. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I just today learned of Paul’s passing. Paul and Mary were very very good friends of my parents, Ron and Shirley Chapman. Dad was also in the RCAF with Paul on bombers. My very first paying job was as a “boys’ shirt model” for Paul who was doing work for Eatons’ catalog back in ‘55 or ‘56. I made $5.00!! I have many fond memories of Paul, Mary and family which will always make me smile. Richard - Posted by: Richard Chapman (Friend) on: Nov 09, 2020

  • Hello Paul, it's Frank Daulby formerly of St. Vital. I worked for you; I believe in 1963. I was that Young, brash, and likely boring young man that was at that time all thumbs, likely your worse employee, but you impressed the importance of lighting on me and remembered it later as an O.P.P. Forensics Detective in Technical Identification. You were very generous with me, and I never forgot what you taught. Thank You Paul F Coldwater Ontario. - Posted by: Francis Daulby (Employee) on: Mar 18, 2020

  • Hi Chris, Although I only knew your dad from your stories about him, he sounded like a extremely interesting fellow who positively touched a lot of people. His legacy lives on. All the best to you and your family. Stan - Posted by: Stan Warsza (Friend) on: Jul 11, 2017

  • Dear Jennifer, Wendy and Chris, Our sincere condolences on the passing of your dad. We always enjoyed our times with him whether socially or through our business contact when he had problems with his cameras and he would rush over to get the problems fixed. He has had a long and good life and he was always proud of the three of you. Take care. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
