STOJAN CULJAK Stojan Culjak passed away peacefully at the River East Personal Care Home on July 4, 2017, at 8:00 a.m. in Winnipeg, after struggling with a stroke, cancer and diabetes for many years. He was 79 years old. He leaves to mourn, his wife of 52 years, Branka Culjak, sons Miljenko (Lori) and Marijan, daughter Mirjana (Jeff), three grandchildren Stephen, Paige and Isabella, and brother Zeljko (Ivka). Stojan was predeceased by his beloved mother Sofija, his father Mate, and his brother Miljenko (Magda). Stojan also leaves to mourn many family members in Croatia who have never forgotten him, despite the distance that has separated them for so many years. Stojan was born in Klobuk, Ljubuski while it was still part of the former Yugoslavia, and lived in many parts of Croatia and Germany in his earlier days. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1975 with his family and continued to be heavily involved with the Croatian community in Winnipeg, often attending church, Folklorama, picnics and other events. He worked at CP Rail for many years, and in his free time he enjoyed fishing, watching soccer, discussing politics and listening to music (Ganga mainly). The family would like to thank all the staff at Riverview Health Centre, Concordia Hospital, and especially River East Personal Care Home who made the last 10 years of Stojan's life as comfortable as possible.
