Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySENNO WERNER RIST Peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2017, surrounded by his family, Senno Rist passed away at the Victoria Hospital, at the age of 87. Senno was born on November 4, 1929 in Kamocin, Poland to his parents, Otto and Helene Rist. He was the youngest of two brothers. At age 12 he became a Christian, was baptized and took his faith very seriously. In 1949 the family immigrated to Shellmouth, MB, Canada, being sponsored by an uncle. In 1950 the family moved to Winnipeg sending Senno ahead first to find work. It was the year of the Great Flood and work was scarce, but the ever resourceful Senno managed to find odd jobs to scrape together enough money to rent a place for the rest of the family to join him. Senno found his first church home at McDermot Avenue Baptist Church where he enjoyed many enduring friendships. In 1957 he married the love of his life Agnes Rattai and together they chose Mission Baptist Church as their new spiritual home. There he became active in numerous capacities including the North American Baptist Conference and the Manitoba Baptist Association. In 1959 Senno became a proud father of his first born son Carson, followed by another son Ken in 1961 and his third son Wes in 1963. He was over the moon, these boys were his pride and joy. They enjoyed travelling together and camping was a favourite family activity. In 1973 Senno founded Gateway Construction which would become the family business. He gained a good reputation within the industry. People enjoyed working with him and he had many loyal employees throughout the years. In 1993 Senno retired and added golfing to his other hobbies and activities while his three sons took over the company. It recently celebrated its 40th year anniversary. Senno had an infectious personality and made friends easily. He had an upbeat and great sense of humour which will be sorely missed. Senno is survived by his beloved wife Agnes, son Wes (Kerri), daughter-in-law Doris Rist, and Annette Rist-Bergstresser. Also two grandchildren, Joshua (Jamie) Rist, Lauren Rist and fiancée Ryan Fierback, three great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Senno was predeceased by two sons, Ken in 2001 and Carson in 2014. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Avenue. Viewing prior to the service and interment at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meadowood Manor available at service. We would like to thank the staff of Meadowood Manor for their compassionate care.

My sincere condolences to Agnes, Wes, and family. The Rists took me into their family as a fourth son when I arrived in Winnipeg, and I always felt completely accepted by Senno and Agnes. They encouraged me both spiritually and personally over many years, and I look forward to seeing Senno again in Eternity. - Posted by: Ralph Hoppe () on: Jul 12, 2017

I extend my deepest sympathies and prayers for the Rist and Rattai and extended families. I grew up with the Rist boys and made countless visits to their home. I can recall many personal conversations with Senno and enjoyed his company. I remember him as a kind, Godly, and optimistic man who enjoyed humour and keen conversation. I will miss him very much. - Posted by: David Ristau (Friend of family) on: Jul 12, 2017
