ANN LOIS ROMANOW April 29, 1931 - August 28, 2017 Lois Romanow, a resident of Winnipeg for many years, retired and resided at Twin Beaches in St. Laurent, Manitoba, and then to Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg passed away August 28, 2017 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 86. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a young woman, Lois greatly enjoyed her first position as a seamstress at a local clothing manufacturer (she was lauded for her great speed and accuracy and was the "go-to" for difficult projects). She then worked as a teller at Royal Bank of Canada, and Great West Life Assurance Co. Upon marrying Joe at the age of 21 she travelled to many far-flung destinations in Canada always supporting her husband in his entrepreneurial endeavors and as an employee of the family company, Roman Equipment (1973) Ltd. Lois and Joe had the opportunity of travelling together to the USA, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Cuba, South America in addition to most of Canada. In the late 1970s, Lois struck out on her own spiritual journey. She attended Historic Camp Chesterfield, founded in 1886 in Indiana. She completed a rigorous Ordination Education Path graduating with honours to become a fully ordained Minister. Lois joined the Winnipeg Spiritualist Church and presided as Minister during the 1980s. She had the honour of conducting the marriage ceremony of her son, James and his wife, Tracy. Lois' pride of joy were her three strapping sons, David, Bruce and James and she viewed them as her greatest accomplishments. She was a Mother Lion where they were concerned. Later in life, she was given another great gift in having five beautiful, unique granddaughters. Surrounded by men for most of her life, her secret wish for a girl was fulfilled - fivefold. Christmases were never the same from then on. Gratefully, she shared her wisdom with each of them in many ways. She is survived by her sister, Mariann (Elsasser) McPherson, brother-in-law Ken McPherson of Winnipeg, Manitoba; two sons, David and James Romanow of Winnipeg and St. Laurent, Manitoba, daughters-in-law, Valerie Romanow and Tracy Romanow; and five granddaughters, Crystal Romanow, Christine Romanow, Cora Romanow, Chantal Romanow and Aimee Romanow; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Connor, Rylan, Adalynn, Jaelynn and Nixon. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Romanow and son, Bruce Romanow. The family would like to thank Riverview Health Centre for their kind, loving care of their Mother in her final days and giving her a wonderful sendoff on her next journey. A private family interment will be held September 1, 11:00 a.m. at Green Acres Gardens. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Riverview Health Centre Foundation.
