Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY ROSE Harry Rose and his twin brother Johann were born on March 10, 1928 in Pinky, Ukraine. His parents were Adolf and Anna Rose. This was a very turbulent time and he lost his father when he was 13 years of age. During the Second World War his mother fled with her two boys to Western Europe. He was separated from his mother only to meet her two decades later. In 1948 he immigrated to Canada and eventually settled in Winnipeg. He enrolled in an apprenticeship program to become a painter. He loved his profession and was a very competent craftsman. He, along with two of his long-time friends, established a successful Valour Decorating painting business. In 1956 Harry met and married his first wife Irmgard, and they had five children. Three of his sons and wife predeceased him. In 1994 Harry married his second wife Katherine (nee Wiens) and upon retirement enjoyed their life together. Harry passed away in the early hours of September 26, 2017 at the Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Katherine, two daughters, Lorraine and Melanie, one stepdaughter Rita, and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethania Personal Care Home (Spiritual Care Program). Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street, Winnipeg, with viewing prior to the service. Interment in the church cemetery in Springstein.
