Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADELAIDE (ADELE) LORAINE MARY FENDER (ULASY) April 3, 1942 - October 3, 2017 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and baba, Adele Fender. Peacefully, she entered Heaven's Gates on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by: her beloved husband Alvin and their three children: Janice Fender-Kosmolak (Hagen), Rob Fender (Cindy) and Greg Fender (Gina). She will be lovingly missed by her six greatest treasures: Kaslynn, Riley, Kiley, Eric, Georgia and Alexandra. She is survived by one brother, Eugene (Olive), and two sisters, Eleanor and Phyllis (Boris), and many special nieces and nephews, family and friends. Mom was welcomed into Heaven and reunited with her parents, sister Sabina, brother Lawrence (Rita), as well as many loved ones that went before her. Mom was born on April 3, 1942 to Julius and Helen Ulasy in the village of Sarto, in the RM of Hanover. She was the youngest of six children and grew up in a home that was filled with laughter, love and music. Mom was baptized at the St. Pierre Roman Catholic Church and then confirmed at the La Broquerie Roman Catholic Church. After completing Grade 10, Mom moved to Winnipeg for work but always came home for weekends. In 1963, she met a handsome accordion player at a dance and her sister arranged Mom to go out with him. Mom and Dad married October 28, 1966 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and were so grateful to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this past October with family and friends. Mom and Dad started living their lives together in Steinbach, and then as young children we grew up in the Friedensfeld area. Mom had a large garden and yard that she tended to. There were many cats and kittens around that would find their way into the house after Dad would leave. Later, Mom and Dad moved back to Steinbach but she always had her garden to look after. Dad enjoyed travelling, so Mom went with him on many trips across Canada, the United States, cruises and southern destinations, but she was always thinking about home and what her precious children and grandchildren were doing. She followed her family to their sporting and school events and music recitals. Family came first to Mom and she would never say no to watching her grandchildren. Family dinners were important and we could always count on fresh and canned vegetables from her garden and our freezers were always filled with perogies. Early July of this year, Mom suffered a seizure at home and then a month later was diagnosed with brain cancer. We are forever grateful that Mom was able to spend some time at home with us and are thankful to the many friends and family that visited, brought flowers and food. A special thank you to Pastor Terry Gudmundson, Dr. Jessica Allen and the kind and thoughtful staff at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB. The memorial service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St., Steinbach, MB. The ash interment will follow at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hwy. 12, Steinbach, MB. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Adele may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Expansion Fund or the Bethesda Foundation.
